A woman came up to me at a conference and said, “I believe in everything you have ever said!”

“Well that makes one of us,” I thought. To be clear, I will believe what I say the moment I say it, and very likely will continue to believe it for a long time to come. However, even things that were true in the past might not be true now, and “ever” is a very long time.

Ideally, we change our minds and adjust our perspectives as we gain new information and experiences. Even hard-set rules change when operating in a different environment, or with a new set of boundaries and expectations. How you approach a situation depends on the situation.

Likely, the woman believed everything she had personally heard me say, or had read about me saying, and that’s wonderful. But as way leads on to way, we are hopefully forever growing, allowing fluidity for what we “know.”
